Natalie Mycka - Kent Karate Student

I started Karate when I was 5 years old. My friend started a few months before me, and encouraged me to go with her, so I did, and I have never looked back. I try to go training at least twice a week, as it teaches me to have discipline, respect and also I have made lots of new friends. I learnt to count to ten in Japanese. Sensei Katie and Sensei Chris are very encouraging and kind. I don't ever think about quitting when I get to Black Belt as Karate will stay with me forever.

Finley Lodge - Kent Karate Student

I have learned a lot more than just a new sport since I joined Kent Karate: respect, discipline, listening, the true meaning of team spirit, being a good sport, encouraging/supporting others and being a good competitor. My Mum and Dad are jealous of my six-pack and I have picked up some Japanese language skills along the way too. I've been with Kent Karate for 3 years now, training 3 times a week, and have never wanted to skip a training session...

Maria Pereira - Kent Karate Student

I joined Kent Karate in 2006 when I was 10 years old, when I first moved to Kent I knew nothing of self-defence and I was keen to learn, as it had been in my family for generations. When I had my first karate lesson, I knew that this would be a well-disciplined sport that would help me find the strength that I needed in new surroundings.

My experiences since joining the club have been an inspirational and very enjoyable journey. As after a few years of training I had a dream of achieving my black belt, along the way I have had a few minor setbacks, but karate taught me to never give up when times get tough, and provided me with the determination to carry on.

In 2012, my dream came true, as after many years of excellent training provided by Sensei Chris and Katie, I was able to perform my kata and many different techniques in front of Shihan Daniels.

Karate has not only taught me self-defence, but also developed me as a person, as it has given me amazing friendships and comfort within the Dojo.
